Yangon Journalism School provides Journalism 101 programs for young reporters who haven’t received proper basic programs and young people who are keen to join the industry. Basic training includes news writing, interviewing techniques, cultivating sources, basic photojournalism and other aspects of journalism 101. There are two kinds of basic journalism training; 10 days long intensive training for students that are already working as journalists and one month long training for young people who are keen to join the industry. YJS has also run basic journalism trainings in Myitkyina, Mawlamyaing, Kalay, Min Dat, Sittwe, Nay Pyi Daw and Magway. Ye Naing Moe, Chief Trainer of YJS and other in-house trainers together conduct the basic trainings.
